Marcia Phelps
Marcia Jean Phelps, 46, of Volcano, died Sept. 10, 2019, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Olympia, Washington, she was a florist, member of the Volcano Community Association and member and past board member of the Cooper Center in Volcano.
A celebration of her life will take place at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Cooper Center in Volcano. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marcia may be made to the Cooper Center in Volcano and/or the Volcano Community Association.
Survived by parents, Robert and Judy Phelps of Olympia, Washington, sister, Chrissie (Dean Evans) Phelps of Volcano; numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

Marie Searle, 90, of Hilo died Aug. 8, 2019, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Hospice Center.

Beverly Aikele
Beverly Ann Riches Kaanapu Aikele, 88, of Kona, died Sept. 6, 2019, at home. Born in Denver Colorado, she was a long time teacher and curriculum specialist for the Department of Education, and a member of the Kona Seniors Association, Hawaii County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), and Kona 1st Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
A celebration of her life will begin at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 21 in the Kona 1st Ward Chapel.
She is survived by son, Peter (Hutia) Kaanapu Jr. of Provo, Utah; and daughters Ginger Leialoha (Harvey) Huihui of Kona; and Sandra A. Mayberry of Kona; as well as 16 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Wilfred Burns Jr.
Wilfred Richard Burns Jr., 70, of Pahoa, died Sept. 11, 2019 at the Kaiser Moanalua Hospital on Oahu. Born Dec. 24, 1948, in Kula, Maui, he was Operations Manager for the Big Island Moving Co. and he also was a veteran in the United States Air Force.
Friends may call on Sept. 19 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel; visitation from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.; wake service at 6 p.m. Friends may also call on Sept. 20 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo; visitation from 8-10 a.m.; Celebration of Mass at 10 a.m.; with Military honors to follow; Casual attire; flowers and lei are welcome.
He is survived by wife, Rofina Burns of Pahoa; sons, Wilfred Richard (Brandi) Burns of Hawaiian Paradise Park, Marc (Maelyn) Burns of Kaumana, Scott (Michele Tavares) of Orchidland, Justin Jacob (Shentelle Mathieu) Burns of Hilo, 17 grandchildren, one great-grandson; sisters, Shirley Ann (Leon) Haunani of Mountain View, Raene Kanoelani (Curtis) Chong of Honokaa, Dory Iwalani Hart of Florida, Cynthia Puanani Burns, Sharon Lehua Lono and Janice Leilani Makalii of Oahu; uncle, John (Dorothy) Quintua of Molokai and Scott (Michele Tavares) of Ocean View.

Dave Kaawa
Dave Naponolani Kaawa, 67, of Naalehu, died Sept. 12, 2019 at his residence. Born in South Kona, on Sept. 4, 1952, he was a fencing foreman for Kahuku Ranch and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ka’u Ward.
Visitation will be held at 8 a.m. Sept. 21, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ka’u Ward in Naalehu. Funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. followed by burial at Naalehu County Cemetery. Luncheon will follow at the family’s residence at 94-6719 Mamalahoa Hwy. in Naalehu. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.
He is survived by wife, Tammy Kaawa of Naalehu; sons, Dave Nicholas(Terra) Kaawa Jr. of Kealakekua, Keola (Salena) Kaawa, Gordon (Dahlia) Kala and Buck (Kuulei) Kala, all of Ocean View; daughters, Sylvia (Afton) Tayamen of Holualoa, Kitty (Landon) Pogtis of Kealia, Tessy (Rainer) Kala of Kealakehe; brother, Eric (Kimberly) Kaawa of Naalehu; sisters, Sarah (Matthew) Lazar of Waipahu, Oahu, Doris (Lionel) Silva of Hilo, Verna Kaawa of Waiohinu, Evon (John) Thompson of Ocean View, Gail Kaawa of Waiohinu, Stephanie (Karl) Mento of Kona Palisades; 29 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.

Clyde Kobayashi
Clyde Hatsuyoshi Kobayashi, 66, of Kealakekua, died Aug. 14, 2019 at Life Care Center of Kona. Born in North Kona on Oct. 29, 1952, he was a store clerk at the Kona Coast Office Supply store, projections manager at Regal Cinemas theater and a member of Toho No Hikari Church and Mokichi Okada Association Hawaii.
Private services were held.
He is survived by daughter, Jennifer Kobayashi of Honolulu; son, Blaine (Celene) Kobayashi of Kohala; sister, Lori (Rex) Okano of Honolulu; brother, Mark (Jill) Kobayashi of Kealakekua; ex-wife, Leiko Kobayashi of Honolulu; two grandchildren; one nephew; numerous cousins.
